Dell in talks with TN to expand its Chennai unit

Personal computer (PC) manufacturer Dell India is in discussions with the Tamil Nadu government for expansion of capacity at its plant in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai. The company refused to share further details of the expansion being planned at the facility, which according to Dell, caters to both domestic and export demand with an installed capacity of 3 million PCs (desktops and notebooks) a year.

“Our government engagement team is in discussions with authorities about expansion of capacity in the Chennai factory and we will not be able to share any other information at this stage,“ P Krishnakumar, vice president and general manager of consumer and small business at Dell India told journalists while discussing the results of a pan-India survey of PC usage trends commissioned by Dell and Greyhound Research.
